Taiwan drops GDP prediction for current year


(MENAFN) Taiwan dropped its GDP expansion prediction for 2022 by 0.51 percentage points to 3.91 percent against its earlier prediction.

Based on an official declaration issued on Friday from the nation's budget directorate, inflation might stand at 2.67 percent on average in 2022, rising by 0.74 percentage points.

The declaration also showed that the main motive for inflation was import prices.

The self-ruling island's economy registered 3.14 percent in the January-March 2022 period, expanding by 6.57 percent last year.

The inflation rate reached 1.96 percent last year, while it was less than 0.23 percent two years ago.
