Nmoq First In ME To Get Green Key Certification
The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) has received Green Key certification for its continuous efforts to implement sustainability best practices, becoming the first museum in the Middle East to achieve this certification. Green Key is a leading standard of excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. This prestigious eco-label represents a commitment by businesses that their tourism establishments adhere to the strict criteria as stipulated by the Foundation for Environmental Education.
Since its unveiling in 2019, NMoQ has received several sustainability accolades, becoming the first national museum in the world to receive both a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold, a 4 Star GSAS (Global Sustainability Assessment System) sustainability rating, as well as recognition in the International Beautiful Buildings Green Apple Awards 2022 organised by the Green Organisation, an international non-profit environment group.
