BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. Poti Free
Industrial Zone (FIZ) will start producing calcined petroleum coke
(CPC), CEO of Poti FIZ David Ebralidze said, Trend reports via Georgian
media.
According to the CEO, the plant for the production will be built
by Aza Carbon LTD, one of the companies operating at the FIZ. The
investment cost of the project totaled $340 million.
Aza Carbon LTD plans to produce anode calcined petroleum coke,
which is necessary in the aluminum industry for the production of
anode blocks used in the smelting of raw aluminum.
'The company has already completed the first stage, which
included the preparation of environmental impact assessments from
the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, and
obtaining the relevant permit. In connection with this, they
conducted all the necessary geodetic and geological surveys of the
area,' Ebralidze said.
At this stage, the company is working with local construction
companies on land preparation, which at the first stage envisages
clearing the land of plants and then cultivating it, he added.
The factory will be built on 29.65 hectares of land at the FIZ.
About 40-50 people will be employed during the construction phase,
and about 150 people - during the operation phase.
