
Gov't announces 'medium-level' emergency over weather developments
Amman, Apr. 24 (Petra) - The Ministry of Local Administration announced 'a state of medium-level emergency,' starting from Sunday evening Monday, based developments in the prevailing Red Sea depression.
Earlier, Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update many regions countrywide will see 'heavy' thunder and hail showers, in addition to dust, sand storms, and gusts.
The ministry asked its main emergency rooms and municipalities in the Kingdom's governorates to 'immediately' deal with any emergency conditions that may accompany the unstable weather, said its statement released on Sunday.
In addition, the ministry urged the concerned institutions to monitor 'hot and dangerous' areas gradually, especially eastern, southern, northern and central regions to take all required procedures during emergency cases and make all efforts are made to deal with flash floods.
