Afghanistan - Won't abandon Afghans in time of need: Pakistan
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has renewed its commitment to providing all-out support to the Afghans to avert a looming humanitarian crisis in their country.
Prime Minister Imran Khan ordered relevant authorities to explore bilateral cooperation with friendly countries on warding off the humanitarian catastrophe in Afghanistan.
Chairing the third meeting of the Apex Committee on Afghanistan on Friday, Khan stressed the export of qualified manpower, especially in the fields of medical, IT and finance, to Afghanistan.
He reiterated Pakistan's appeal to the international community and relief agencies to provide generous assistance to Afghanistan.
The premier issued order for extending cooperation in the fields of railways, minerals, pharmaceuticals and media to help in Afghanistan's rehabilitation and development.
In a statement after the meeting, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said:“Pakistan is committed to providing all-out support to Afghan people to avert [a] humanitarian crisis.”
Khan welcomed the UN's appeal for aid to Afghanistan, as the committee highlighted the need for the provision of global assistance to the Afghanistan.
The apex committee expressed concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and said Pakistan would not abandon Afghans in their time of need.
