Unique wooden church of 17th century restored in western Ukraine


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Descent of the Holy Spirit Church, a unique wooden monument of the 17th century, was restored in Kolochava, Zakarpattia region, within the Great Restoration project.

The cost of the reconstruction works totaled UAH 5 million, the website of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration reports.

In particular, emergency works were carried out. The best craftspeople were involved in the restoration. The works were performed without a single nail to renew the utmost authenticity of the architectural monument of Zakarpattia region.













'This is the first wooden church that we managed to restore within the Great Restoration program of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky,' said Viktor Mykyta, the Head of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration.

More than UAH 5 million was provided from the state budget for this project. It was developed and co-financed by Kolochava territorial community.

As reported, in May 2021, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine published a list of cultural heritage sites selected under the Great Restoration state program.
