Qatar - QCB issues QR600m treasury bills for Jan

Doha: Qatar Central Bank (QCB) issued yesterday treasury bills for three, six and nine months, with a value of QR600m.

In a statement on its website, the Qatar Central Bank said that the treasury bills were distributed as follows: QR 300 million for three months at an interest rate of 0.20%; QR 200 million for six months at an interest rate of 0.25%; QR100m for nine months at an interest rate of 0.30%.

The issuance of these treasury bills by the Qatar Central Bank comes within the framework of its endeavor to develop the monetary policy in the State of Qatar, increase its effectiveness, contribute to the strength of the banking and financial system, activate the tools available for the open market operations, and implement the coordination mechanism between the financial and monetary policies.

The issuance is part of a series of issues executed by Qatar Central Bank on behalf of the Government of the State of Qatar and in accordance with the schedule prepared by both Qatar Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance. Treasury bills are issued through auction for banks operating in Qatar.
