Turkey’s banking field registers USD5.8b of net profit


(MENAFN) According to the Turkish banking regulator announcement on Wednesday, the country’s banking field recorded a 75.3 billion Turkish liras (USD5.8 billion) net profit towards the end of the previous month.

Based on the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) data, the figure jumped 31.4 percent from the corresponding time span of the past year.

Overall assets of the industry reached 8.95 trillion Turkish liras (USD691.5 billion), jumping by 46.2 percent on a yearly basis. Loans, the biggest sub-category of assets, climbed by 32 percent to hit 4.8 trillion Turkish liras (USD369.9 billion) during the 11-month time span.

Regarding the liabilities part, deposits kept at lenders in the country amounted at about 5.2 trillion Turkish liras (USD401.7 billion) in the end of November, surging 50 percent on an annual basis.
