Ukraine increase number of women eligible to join army

(MENAFN) Ukraine greatly increased the number of women qualified to serve in the military, putting them with the group of individuals who might be brought in to participate in wars.

The recently-established legislation will apply on working women who succeed in the medical test and are among the ages of 18 and 60. Ukrainian men are asked to register for conscription at 18.

Alexandra Ustinova, a member of Ukraine’s national parliament, informed Coffee or Die Magazine, “This is not about conscription after reaching some age, as it is for men,” adding “it is about conscription in wartime. And considering more than 122,000 Russian troops are at our borders, the decision seems logical, timely, and sensible.”

Ustinova also said, “This sends a powerful signal to Moscow that Ukrainians are ready to resist,” and “the decision to educate as many people as possible to hold arms and to be ready to serve seems a good one.”
