(MENAFN- APCO Worldwide) Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 22 November 2021: The ‘5G and Cloud: The Workhorse of the Workforce’ session at the fourth edition of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (#GMIS2021) featured key insights from Ali Al Hashmi, Director of Science and Technology, Policies and Programs at the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology; Rukmini Glanard, EVP of Global Sales Services and Marketing at Alcatel Lucent Enterprise; Sayed Hashish, General Manager at Microsoft UAE; Evgeny Kolbin, CEO at Sbercloud; and Andy Purdy, Chief Security Officer at Huawei.
Ali Al Hashmi stated that 5G and the Cloud will be a catalyst and enabler for the UAE’s next industrial era and the national strategy Operation 300bn.
“5G and the cloud forms the infrastructure, the ethereal fabric of what we are trying to achieve with Operation 300bn,” said Al Hashmi, who elaborated on the potential of 5G from reduced latency to greater agility and resilience, to facilitate new avenues for technology and industrial development.
Al Hashmi added that the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology holds a mandate of leading governance in research and development (R&D), with the Cabinet’s approval of the Emirates Research and Development Council, headed by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. “Our drive for research and development is not just contained to the UAE, but open to all countries for collaboration and experimentation.”
Under the theme ‘Rewiring Societies: Repurposing Digitalisation for Prosperity’, the second day of #GMIS2021 jump-started with great success, bringing together key global leaders from government, business, and civil society to discuss how data and connectivity are shaping the future of the manufacturing sector.
