Greece rejection of sovereign equality due to “Proclamation of Northern Cyprus”

(MENAFN) In accordance to the TRNC’s leader, the announcement of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is the reason behind Greece’s rejection to agree on Turkey’s Cypriots’ independent equality.

Ersin Tatar announced at the 38th anniversary of the TRNC establishment “The proclamation of the TRNC on Nov. 15, 1983 is a result of the Greek Cypriot side's refusal to accept our sovereign equality, its refusal to share power and wealth with us, and the international community's hearing only the Greek side's voice.”

He as well repeated that Turkey halted the Greek régime that stated the Hellenic State of Cyprus with an army takeover on July 15, 1974, by using its useful and de facto guarantor right.

Tatar added “If a peace operation had not been carried out in Cyprus [Island] on the morning of July 20 for our security of life, property and independence, Cyprus would have turned into a Greek island today.”
