Saudi - Executive Office of the Arab Ministerial Council to Meet Tomorrow to Discuss Water Security Strategy in the Region

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Cairo, Nov. 15, 2021, SPA -- The Executive Office of the Arab Ministerial Water Council will meet tomorrow, presided by Kuwait, to discuss several topics of joint Arab action in water issues that are included in the draft agenda of the 13th session of the Arab Ministerial Water Council scheduled to be held next Thursday at the Arab League headquarters.
The Director of the Department of Environment, Housing and Water Resources, Director of the Technical Department of the Arab Ministerial Water Council, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Jamal El-Din Jaballah, said in a statement today that the draft agenda of the Executive Office and the 13th session of the Arab Ministerial Water Council includes 24 items, most importantly the executive plan for the Arab water security strategy in the Arab region to address the challenges and future requirements of sustainable development (2010-2030) and proposals to update it following several comments suggested and adopted by Arab states ahead of submitting them to the Economic and Social Council and the Arab Summit.
Jaballah said the meeting will also discuss an item on Arab preparations for the 9th World Water Forum 2022 to be held in the Senegalese capital "Dakar" and a presentation by the Technical Secretariat of the Arab Ministerial Council for Water on the meeting of the mini-committee to discuss controversial items in the draft guiding principles for cooperation between Arab countries to exploit common water resources.
He added that the 13th session of the Arab Ministerial Council will address the interdependence issue between water and agriculture, as well as the interdependence between water, food, and energy and what has been achieved so far in the two projects, and review the report and recommendations of the meeting of the Arab Joint Committee for Water and Agriculture, in addition to discussing the preparation for the 4th Arab Water Conference, themed“Arab Water Security for Life and Peace”.
