Chengdu Cultural Taking roots in Singapore


(MENAFN- TimesNewswire ) The launching ceremony of Chengdu chronicles culture overseas exchange corporation partner (Singapore) and the opening ceremony of overseas exhibition on Chengdu history culture was held simultaneously in Singapore and China's city of Chengdu on Friday, with an aim to strengthening China-Singapore cultural exchange while popularizing Chengdu culture on the global stage.

The program features a combination of online and offline panels to facilitate dialogues on mutual cultural exchanges among participants from both the city-state of Singapore and China's city of Chengdu, including exhibitions and webinar on how to promote cultural sharing.

The event began with a welcoming remark by Gao Zhigang, the director of the office of Chengdu Chronicles, calling for joint efforts to boost city-to-city cultural exchanges in a peaceful, innovation-driven, open-minded, shared and equitable way.

The office of Chengdu chronicles serves as a communication platform for collecting, preserving and spreading traditional culture of Chengdu both at home and abroad, Gao said.

In her speech delivered at the ceremony in Singapore, Qinwen, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, said China's contribution to diversity of global culture has gained fruitful results. The Chengdu-Singapore dialogue promotes the cultural exchanges and cooperation between these two places, and further deepens the friendship between the two peoples.

Xiao Jianghua, the director of China Cultural Centre highlights that China Cultural Centre is working on an array of strategies to foster the cultural development and integration between China and Singapore, including participating in international cultural exchange activities and hosting seminars to solicit experts' advice on culture developing.

Meanwhile,“My Chengdu Painting Exhibition” will be held in Chengdu, which will display 30 paintings concerning the Tianfu Culture by students from 25 primary and secondary schools, depicting Chengdu's historical stories, place-name legends, cultural heritages and local customs.

By the end of the event, Tian Xuzhong, the president of Sichuan cursive Script Research Society and Anthony Ho, the vice president of the Chinese calligraphy association of Singapore and jointly dedicated calligraphy inscription for the office of Chengdu Chronicles. It is writing that Together, we enjoy the 5,000-year-old Chinese civilization and depict the vast and beautiful land of China.

Over the past 31 years, the China-Singapore relations, serving as a model of mutually beneficial cooperation between large and small countries, have been in full bloom, particularly in the sector of culture exchanges. We Chinese people believe the key to friendly relations between nations lie in the closeness of their peoples and that only friendly exchanges between the peoples can bring them closer together. Cultural exchanges, for example, are such a means to create spiritual bonds between the peoples.
