(MENAFN- Promotions Redefined) Pan Nalin’s Last Film Show (Chhello Show) wins Golden Spike Award for the Best Picture at the SEMINCI 66th Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain. The Award comes with 75000 Euro (INR 65 Lakhs) cash prize which will go to the Last Film Show’s Spanish Distributor Karma Films.
Since its creation in 1956, Seminci has become one of the main international film festivals in Spain, standing out in the area of strong auteur driven and independent movies. Most winners from the Seminci goes on to win Oscars in the International category. But sadly, that will not be the case here because India did not submit Chhellow Show as Indian entry to Oscars. That decision has baffled many voting Academy members in the USA because the film has been receiving with raving reviews and awards since its Tribeca world premiere. Recently it also won Audience Award at the Mill Valley in California. Now this prestigious win at the Seminci would have certainly made Chhellow Show (Last Film Show) the serious most contenders at the Oscars to come from India. Especially when the past Golden Spike Award winners include Abbas Kiarostami, Darren Aronofsky, Damien O’Donell, Kim Ki-duk, Ridley Scott, Zhang Yimou, Andrei Tarkovsky, Akira Kurosawa, Ingmar Bergman and further down in the timeline winners list includes Alain Resnais, Andrzej Wajda, Robert Bresson, Luchino Visconti, Hal Ashby, François Truffaut, Bernardo Bertolucci, Nagisa Oshima, Masaki Kobayashi, Lindsay Anderson, Ermanno Olmi and the list goes on.
In the last four decades, Last Film Show (Chhello Show) is a second Indian movie to win this award. The first one was awarded to Kharij by Mrinal Sen in 1983.

Last Film Show (Chhello Show) won Audience Award (World Cinema) at the 44th edition of Mill Valley Film Festival in California where it came out as clear audience favorite among many prestigious international titles.

Last Film Show (Chhello Show) had its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in June 2021 where it won Audience Award First Runner up, and it has also won China’s Tiantan Award nomination. The film has been invited to number of International Film festivals and will play this fall at the Sydney, Taipie Golden Horse, Philadelphia, Oslo, and so on.
Orange Studio has already sold the picture to USA (Samuel Goldwyn Films), Japan (Shochiku), Germany and Austria (NeueVisionen), Spain (Karma Films), Portugal (Nos Lusomundo), Russia/CIS (Capella), Cineplex (Taiwan), Czech Republic (Slovakia Bohemia Motion Picture), Israel (Red Cape / Nachson), Turkey (Filmarti). Orange Studio will handle the release in France.
