Qatar-Austria relationship has seen remarkable developments: FM

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and Foreign Minister of Austria HE Michael Linhart held a press conference in Doha this morning.

In the beginning of the press conference, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the Austrian Foreign Minister and congratulated him on the occasion of the Austrian National Day which fell yesterday.

The Deputy Prime Minister said: "I extend my congratulations on the occasion of the Austrian National Day, which fell yesterday, and I hope that this year will be full of achievements that achieve development, prosperity and growth."

He also further noted the remarkable developments in various fields between the relationship of Qatar and the Republic of Austria.

He said: "The relationship between the Republic of Austria and Qatar has witnessed remarkable developments in various fields since the beginning of diplomatic relations between the two countries since 1975."

"I agreed with His Excellency that we will work together to promote mutual investments between the two countries in various sectors, especially the technology and renewable energy sector, and there will be an exchange of visits to discuss opportunities between the two countries," H E Sheikh Mohammed added.

During the press conference, he also mentioned that they "discussed developments on the international scene, whether in the GCC countries, the Iranian nuclear and the recent developments in Afghanistan."

H E Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his speech, affirmed that "Qatar understands the international concerns about Afghanistan, and we will work together with all friendly countries to enhance security and stability in Afghanistan, and try to preserve the gains of the Afghan people."

"The State of Qatar appreciates the role of the State of Austria in achieving international security and stability, and we look forward to working with them and continuing consultations between them in all different fields," His Excellency said.
