Turkmenistan, UN talk co-op in food security

Deputy Prime Minister - Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Director of the Regional Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Viorel Gutsu discussed key issues of strengthening bilateral cooperation were during online talks, Trend reports referring to the State news agency of Turkmenistan.

According to the information, Meredov stressed at the meeting that Ashgabat highly appreciates the activities of FAO and intends to develop effective cooperation with this UN agency.

Meredov said that Turkmenistan will pay special attention to the use of the best world practices in the field of sustainable agricultural development and strengthening food security.

The parties exchanged views on the implementation of joint projects and the opening of the FAO office in Turkmenistan.

In addition, Meredov invited the Director of the FAO Regional Office to take part in the international conference "Politics of Peace and Trust - the Basis of International Security, Stability and Development", which will be held on December 12, 2021 in Ashgabat.

Earlier it was reported that Turkmenistan prepared a plan for cooperation with international organizations for 2021-2023.

Turkmenistan is a member of 47 international organizations, including the UN, OSCE, OIC, Non-Aligned Movement and others.

Currently, Turkmenistan is a member of 13 councils, committees and commissions of the UN. Also, the country is actively involved in global development processes and the implementation of the goals and objectives of the millennium.
