Dubai’s hotel tenancy levels increase with Expo 2020

(MENAFN) Hotels in Dubai registered an increase in occupancy levels in the past month, supported by the alleviation of travel regulations and the Expo 2020 end in the current month.

The standard tenancy levels increased to 67.2 percent last month, surging 51 percent against the same period last year, as mentioned by hospitality information and analytics specialist STR.

September’s activity is a month-mover-month expansion as well, from tenancy levels of 58 percent in August and 53.9 percent in July.

On Tuesday, Oct. 19 Shady Elborno, official of macro strategy at Emirates NBD Research, mentioned in a statement on the tourism industry that "seasonal dynamics and global travel lockdowns that contributed to some of the softness over summer are giving way to an improved travel environment driven by a combination of less-restrictive travel, Expo 2020 and improved seasonal weather."
