(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Some 20,000 vials of Bamlanivimab and 40,000 vials of Etesevimab have been delivered to Ukraine, the Ukrainian Health Ministry has reported.

"The latest agreement on receiving this assistance was reached during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the United States. Some 20,000 vials of Bamlanivimab and 40,000 vials of Etesevimab are already in Ukraine and have been shipped to the regions," Health Minister Viktor Liashko said.

The Health Ministry also updated the protocol "The provision of medical care for the treatment of coronavirus disease (COVID-19)," which provides for the use of drugs Bamlanivimab and Etesevimab.

This will help doctors battling with COVID-19 to have clear instructions on when and how to use these drugs properly, the ministry added.

According to the report, the drugs have a direct effect on the virus - the drugs bind to the spike proteins of the virus, preventing them from entering the cell, speeding up the recovery of patients with COVID-19 and preventing complications.

The drugs were delivered to Ukraine with the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States as humanitarian aid provided by the U.S. charity organization Direct Relief.
