CASTRIES, St Lucia – The first session of the 12th-parliament of Saint Lucia is scheduled for Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 10:00 and the Senate at11:00 am where the respective members will affirm their oath of allegiance and/or affirmation as members of parliament and to the Queen.
Thereafter, both Houses will meet in a joint session to receive a message from His Excellency, the deputy to the Governor-General, Errol Charles.
On July 26 , the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) came into power with a 13-2 majority, plus two labour leaning independents to complete a 15-2 majority in parliament. Philip J Pierre was subsequently sworn in as Saint Lucia’s prime minister on July 28, 2021.
Prime minister Pierre, in turn, established a Cabinet of minister on August 5, 2021, as referenced in the Extraordinary Gazette Monday 16th August, 2021 (1).
The Extraordinary Gazette Monday 16th August, 2021 (1) also listed the Senate appointments as published herewith.
