N Macedonia, Greece ink natural gas pipeline accord


(MENAFN)The Greek national news agency AMNA revealed that Greece and North Macedonia inked an accord on Friday, July 9, for the building of a pipeline that will connect the two countries' natural gas grids.

The accord was inked by Greek Environment and energy Minister Kostas Skrekas and North Macedonia's Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi in the presence of the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, and other administrators.

According to a press release from the Greek ministry, the 123-kilometer pipeline will be able to transport no less than 1.5 billion cubic meters of Natural gas per year. The scheme is worth 110 million euros (USD130.6 million).

The Greek minister stated that the pipeline will improve Greece's geopolitical part as a local natural gas center and will aid North Macedonia decrease its environmental footprint and decarbonize its economy.
