Greece backs Libya on path to elections, removal of foreign army forces
(MENAFN)Greece will back Libya on the trail to nationwide elections planned later in 2021, Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias stated on Friday, July 2, supporting the call of visiting Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives (parliament) Aguila Saleh for the removal of foreign forces and mercenaries from the North African country.
The Libyan administrator revealed that throughout a gathering with Dendias in Athens, according to translated comments on Greek national broadcaster ERT "We strongly insist on the removal of foreign forces and mercenaries".
Dendias stated that "What is needed, and you represent it in the clearest way, is to allow the Libyan people to express their overruling will in the elections".
"Greece will do everything it can to help in this direction," he revealed, highlighting that the prerequisite for free elections and a better future for Libya is the removal of all foreign forces and mercenaries.
