Iraq: 2 rockets aim at Baghdad airport site


(MENAFN) The Iraqi military stated that on Sunday, May. 2 two Katyusha rockets were launched towards the Baghdad International Airport site, without leading to any losses.

The media office of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command stated in a report that the assault occurred in the night when unknown militiamen launched the two rockets, one of which settled on the edge of the airport in the southwest of the capital.

The report further said that the air defense in the area was able to halt the other rocket.

Sirens wailed in the assault in a military base that includes U.S. forces close to the airport, said an Interior Ministry source to Xinhua without offering further details.
