Qatar, Equatorial Guinea sign statement to establish diplomatic ties


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) New York: The State of Qatar and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea have signed a joint statement to establish diplomatic relations. The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the permanent delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in New York.

The statement was signed by Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations H E Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea to the United Nations H E Ambassador Anatolio Ndong Mba.

The two sides affirmed their desire to strengthen and develop friendly relations and cooperation in the political, economic, commercial and cultural fields, and stressed the importance of establishing bilateral relations in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter, and expressed their confidence that the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries will contribute to the development of bilateral cooperation and the consolidation of world peace.
