Afghanistan- Afghan MP Fatima Aziz Dies of Illness at 47
(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL - Fatima Aziz, an MP from Kunduz province, passed away due to an illness at the age of 47years old, the head of the parliament's secretariat Abdul Qadir Zazai said on Friday.
According to her colleagues, she was battling cancer and was under treatment in Swiss.
She represented her province in the Wolesi Jirga, the Afghan lower house of parliament, from 2005 to 2021.
According to information published about her on the Wolesi Jirga website, Aziz was a surgeon and was born in 1973 in the northern province of Kunduz.
Fatima Aziz served as a medical doctor for 12 years before she started her career as a lawmaker.
Aziz was one of the first women to be elected for the parliament in the country's parliamentary election in 2005 after years of civil war. (TOLO NEWS)
