(Amman, March 9, 2021): talabat Jordan, the region’s leading food and grocery delivery app, officially announced the launch of its premier q-commerce grocery delivery concept, talabat mart, marking the beginning of the next phase in e-commerce. While designed similar to a hypermarket, each talabat mart is operated as a “dark store,”—local warehouses open only to talabat’s highly trained staff and delivery riders. To date, talabat has launched 7 dark store within the capital, covering 95% of Amman in its first phase.

Using talabat mart, customers can have all their basic essentials, such as groceries including meat, fresh produce and snack items, as well as household product, delivered straight to their doorstep in just 30 minutes or less. The q-commerce delivery service is available through the talabat website or mobile application where customers simply select talabat mart from the options listed under the grocery section, and then select their desired products from talabat mart’s wide selection, which features more than 5,000 products in each dark store.

Commenting on the occasion, Hala Siraj, Managing Director of talabat Jordan, said: “We’re very excited to be launching talabat mart. This revolutionary grocery delivery concept represents a new phase of innovation and diversification in our operations, integrating new areas in the delivery industry that we’re aiming to take to the next level.”

For his part, Regional Director of talabat mart Jordan, Ihssan Sweidan, said: “talabat mart will contribute to developing online grocery shopping, and enhancing the customer's ordering journey by increasing efficiency and reducing delivery time. Before launching talabat mart in Amman, we took into account many in-depth studies on customer behavior with regard to the online grocery ordering experience. From there we incepted the talabat mart concept which resolved the issues many customers were facing such as long wait times for delivery, inaccurate orders, and limited coverage areas, just to name a few. With our first 7 talabat mart stores in Amman, we can easily cover 95% of the city’s consumers, ensuring a more satisfying experience for our customers. Our upcoming plan is to expand talabat mart into Irbid starting with the launch of one dark store.”

The announcement of the official launch of the talabat mart service came in line with a recent press tour organized by talabat Jordan for a group of media representatives held at one of talabat mart’s dark stores, that showcased the equipment, functions, and technology present in all dark stores across the capital.
