Ukraine- NBU: Inflation to reach its peak in mid-2021

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Inflation will reach peak values in the middle of the year and then gradually return to its target range in the first half of 2022, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Yuriy Heletiy has said.

"In the middle of this year, the growth of consumer prices will reach peak values, but then inflation will begin to slow down and return to its target range in the first half of 2022," Heletiy said at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

He noted that in January, inflation accelerated and exceeded the target of 5% ± 1 percentage point.

"According to preliminary estimates of the National Bank, inflation continued to accelerate in February," he said.

As Ukrinform reported, the National Bank forecasts that consumer inflation will be 7% in 2021.
