Qatar- National Service Academy cadets' exercise begins


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) An exercise carried out by National Service Academy cadets kicked off on Thursday under the patronage and in the presence of HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

The exercise will continue until February 23 and focuses on managing night operations and the methods of their implementation. It is divided into two phases.

The first phase involves night ground operations in which training on a planned attack is carried out during the day and at night. It also includes training on reconnaissance patrols, ambush patrol and attack training for engagement, the QNA report states.

The second phase of the exercise focuses on defending islands. These operations and training are also carried out both during the night and day in order to raise the combat competence of the Qatar Armed Forces, the report adds.

The exercise also enhances the ability to respond to day or night attacks, and provides training on how to create engineering obstacles and establish the necessary fortifications.
