Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has also informed its customers that they can deposit new notes in the deposit machines. According to the bank, customers can deposit up to 30 notes per transaction and the daily cash deposit limit is set at QR50,000.

'All new Qatari currency notes are now accepted in most of QIB Deposit Machines. You can deposit up to 30 notes per transaction and the daily cash deposit limit is QR50,000, said QIB in tweet on February 10. The bank has sent the same message to its customer on phones.

After the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) introduced new banknotes on December 18 last year, customers were unable to deposit new notes in the deposit machines. The new bank notes were made available to customers from December 18 from ATMs, but deposit machines were not accepting the new banknotes.

The banks were required to upgrade their machines for the new banknotes which have high-security features and new designs.  The machines were designed to identify and sort old notes which are different from new notes in terms of designs and features. There are upto 64 technical specifications and features, depending on the value of notes, which make these new bank notes unique and safe.  Also a new denomination of QR200 note has also come into circulation for the first time in Qatar.

On December 13, QCB had announced to introduce ‘5th Series of Qatar Riyal Banknotes' from December 18. The new banknotes' design reflects Qatari tradition, Islamic history, culture, flora and fauna, and development in the field of education, sport and economy. The new denomination of QR200 aims to bridge the gap between QR100 and QR500 banknotes.
