Qatar- Photography contest at horse festival


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Photography enthusiasts in Qatar have the chance to showcase their talent and win cash prizes in a competition being organised in line with Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF) which takes place next week.

Announcing the competition on its official social media accounts yesterday, the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) said KIAHF is inviting 'amateur photographers to participate in the Best Photo competition for purebred Arabian horses.

Cash prizes are at stake for top three winners including QR20,000 for first place, QR15,000 for second place and QR10,000 for third place.

Organisers said the competition is open to all citizens and residents of Qatar. A participant may submit a maximum of six high-quality photos (JPEG - TIFF) DPI 300 which must depict the beauty of the purebred Arabian horse taken at the venue of the festival.

The name and phone number of the participant must be clearly included in all entries. No personal information or watermark may be included in the photos and no major change may be made to the image; only minor adjustments are permitted. The deadline for submission of entries is on February 7.

In order to be allowed to take photos at the festival venue, participants must register which will give them permit to take pictures at the arena. The registration form is available in the media section of the festival website: Kiahf.qa and the completed registration form shall be emailed to [email protected] Priority will be given to the first 30 registrations. A panel of judges who have expertise in photography will select the winning photos, decision of which will be final.  All rights to the winning photos will be owned by Katara and participants are not allowed to use the winning photos for other competitions.

The photo contest is one of the side events of the inaugural KIAHF which will be held on Katara Beach from February 2 to 6 with a wide international participation in one of the highest beauty contests for purebred Arabian horses, with prizes worth QR13m.

Katara is organising the Festival in cooperation with Qatar Equestrian Federation, Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club and Qatar Foundation. 

The Festival will also include auctions of purebred Arabian horses as well as various educational and entertainment activities for equine enthusiasts and the public.

To ensure the safety of the participants and the masses, the Festival will be held amidst COVID-19 precautionary measures in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health.
