China gives about 23 mln corona vaccine doses


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- Chinese authorities said on Wednesay that about 23 million doses of vaccines against coronavirus (Covid-19) had been given to the people in the country.
Deputy Head of the National Health Committee Zeng Yixin, during a press conference held by the Joint Mechanism for Prevention and Control of Covid-19, said that so far 22.77 million doses of vaccines have been given to various regions of China, pointing out that China's daily capacity to conduct swab tests has exceeded 15 million samples.
He called on local authorities in various Chinese cities and provinces to enhance and improve their testing capacity and find ways to reduce the cost of the tests since China witnessed a remarkable increase in imported cases of Covid-19, as the average number of daily cases in January reached double last November.
Yixin warned of the increasing risks of the spread of the Coronavirus in the country with the approaching Spring Festival which considered an important Chinese occasion for family reunification and gathering. (end)
