"It is quite a performance in such a difficult year," said Cai Daolu, a visiting senior fellow of the National University of Singapore Business School, when commenting on the statistics that China reported a 2.3 percent GDP expansion in 2020 and became the only main economy that reported a positive expansion in the year amid the pandemic.

China's sturdy economic performance in 2020 has been translated into two vital features, that is "a steady labor market" and "an increasing disposable income" in China, Cai stated.
