French Driver Peterhansel Wins Dakar Rally Saudi Arabia 2021


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Jeddah, Jan 15, 2021, SPA -- France's Stephane Peterhansel today won the Dakar Rally Saudi Arabia 2021 in the car category for the 14th time to become the first driver winning the Dakar Rally in three different continents.
Today, the Dakar Rally Saudi Arabia 2021 has reached its final stages, with the twelfth stage starting from Yanbu and ending in Jeddah, spanning 452 km, of which 225 km are a special stage subject to timing, and the Spanish defending champion Carlos Sainz finished in first place, followed by Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah in second place and Peterhansel Third. Thus, Al-Attiyah maintained its second position in the general standings, 15 minutes behind Peterhansel, and behind him was Sainz, third, an hour behind the lead.
In his statement following reaching the finish line and winning the title of Dakar Rally Saudi Arabia 2021, Peterhansel (55 years old) said "The feelings did not differ even when winning the title for the 14th time. Winning Dakar is always complicated and difficult, and there is no easy victory."
On the occasion, Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, expressed his pride and happiness at the arrival of the Dakar Rally Saudi Arabia 2021 to the finish line.
