Qatar- QDA camp helps children learn how to control diabetes


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: The 21st Al Bawasil Diabetes Camp, organised by Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), concluded on Saturday. Due to the current health conditions, the camp's activities have been carried out via the zoom platform.

Al Bawasil camp has brought together 48 children for four days program of education, activities and entertainment to help them deal  and  living with diabetes. The objective of the camp is to teach the children with diabetes how to self-control diabetes and avoid complications in order to reach their full potential. 

Commenting on the event, Executive Director, QDA, Dr. Abdulla Al Hamaq said: 'Through our accumulated experience in organizing diabetes camps, we have seen how the camps enhance the confidence of children and their parents as well and develop confidence and the ability to take care of themselves.

The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) decided in 2013 to adopt and recognize Al-Bawasil Diabetes Camp as an International camp because it contains educational and awareness programs that can serve children of diabetes around the world. 

The first Al Bawasil Diabetes Camp was held in January 1999, and has been held every year since then. It has become one of the most important diabetes camps in the region.
