China: Deal between Shanghai, ASEAN stays robust amidst coronavirus


(MENAFN) According to figures from Shanghai Customs, deal between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Shanghai stayed robust in the present year in spite of being impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

During the January-November period of the current year, Shanghai imported commodities valued at over 339.3 billion yuan (around USD51.9 billion) from ASEAN, a rise of 6.1 percent from the very period of the past year.

Shanghai Customs stated that, in the meantime, products valued at around USD66 billion were exported from Shanghai to ASEAN, a drop by 4.1 percent annually, partially because of the effect of the pandemic.

Integrated circuits were the biggest group of goods Shanghai imported from ASEAN during the mentioned period, which recorded an overall import value of about USD13,091 billion. The amount indicated a 20.5-percent expansion through the very period of the past year and made up for 25.2 percent of the overall import value from ASEAN in the stated period.
