 Uzbekistan: Suspected recruiter for terrorist group detained
(MENAFN)  The Uzbek Interior Ministry stated on Wednesday, Dec. 2 that, the country's law enforcement bodies have detained an Uzbek citizen suspected of engaging young men to become members in Katiba al-Tawhid wal-Jihad, an Islamist fighting group working in Syria.
The detainee was influenced by the leaders of global terrorist organizations while in Egypt, and was vigorously occupied in engaging Uzbek students in the fighting group in Syria, a police declaration stated.
Police stated that, terrorist material discovered in the cell phone of the detainee, saying in addition that a criminal investigation against the man was in progress.
Katiba al-Tawhid wal-Jihad was put in the list among terrorist organizations by the country's Supreme Court in 2016.
