(MENAFN) Based on a report made Monday by a war observer, Russian bombings targeted an opposition military camp in the northwestern province of Idlib over Monday night, causing more than 78 insurgents to die.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said in a statement that the Russian assaults embattled a camp for a Turkey-backed rebel group called Failaq al-Sham in the western countryside of Idlib, also leaving 90 people injured.

The monitoring agency further revealed that the death toll could increase owing to the number of critically wounded militants.

According to the report, rescue workers are still searching for survivors or dead bodies under the rubble. The targeted camp comprised 180 rebels.
