Jordan- Zarqa assault case referred to State Security Court

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct. 21 (Petra) -- The prosecutor of the Criminal Court on Wednesday decided to refer to the State Security Court (SSC) a recent case in which a 16-year-old boy was brutally assaulted by a group of individuals in the eastern Zarqa governorate.
A judicial source told Petra that all of the defendants are indicted with several crimes, including "committing an act that endangers the safety and security of society, casting terror among people and terrifying them" in accordance with the provisions of Articles 2 and 7 of the Prevention of Terrorism Law No. 55 of 2006 and its amendments.
The source explained that the most severe charge in the indictment against the defendants falls within the jurisdiction of the SSC, therefore, it has been decided to send the case to the court.
The assault occurred last week in the eastern Zarqa governorate where a group of individuals kidnapped the teen, chopping his upper limbs and gouging out one of his eyes in revenge for a previous homicide.
