Pakistan- Corona cases surface in Lakki Marwat schools


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) LAKKI MARWAT: After Peshawar, Nowshera and Hangu, now coronavirus cases have surfaced in three schools in Lakki Marwat where teachers and students have been infected.

Focal person for coronavirus said the coronavirus tests of the principal and a teacher of government Higher Secondary School Tajazai have come back as positive. A female teacher of Government Girls High School Baistkhel and a student from Government High School Ahmedkhel have also contracted coronavirus.

The spokesman said Government Girls High School Baistkhel has been closed for five days after the teacher was diagnosed with coronavirus, while the principal's office and affected classes in other schools have been closed.

The district administration is strictly implementing the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in schools and the process of applying disinfectants spray is also continuing.

On September 26, two schools were sealed completely, while another school was closed partially in Hangu after coronavirus tests of some teachers and students came back as positive.

Deputy Commissioner Hangu Mansoor Arshid said one teacher, principal and three students of Government Higher Secondary School Block Ibrahimzai were diagnosed with coronavirus after which the school was closed immediately and the infected teachers and students were asked to quarantine themselves.

In Government High School No. 2, a student of class 10-B contracted coronavirus after which only his class was closed, while the rest of school is functioning as per routine.

The deputy commissioner further said that Government Higher Secondary School Block Doaba was closed completely after coronavirus tests of three students came back as positive.

On September 17, 10 employees of a school in Nowshera were diagnosed with coronavirus.

According to the district health department, eight teachers and two class-IV employees of Government Higher Secondary School Rashakai in Nowshera had contracted coronavirus. The district education officer sent the infected teachers and other staff members on leave.

A day earlier, seven teachers of a government school in Peshawar were diagnosed with coronavirus.

The affected teachers belonged to the Government Higher Secondary School No. 1 Peshawar Cantt.

Although, coronavirus is on its way out in Pakistan, but still new cases are being reported on daily basis. Keeping in view the potential of the virus to strike back, the Pakistan government has not declared complete victory against it.
