EU-sanctioned Med Wave firm non-Jordanian, says foreign ministry

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sept. 22 (Petra)-Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dhaifallah Ali Fayez, said the maritime firm Med Wave Shipping, which was listed in the EU sanctions for violating the arms embargo on Libya, is " a non-Jordanian company, unregistered in the Kingdom and does not exist on Jordanian soil."
In a press statement, Fayez said the concerned authorities have checked on the Med Wave's location in Amman, as per the address contained in the UN documents, and found that the alleged transport firm does not exist in the capital.
The field inspection showed existence of another company that uses the aforementioned firm's offices, which is a limited liability company, registered at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is under conservatory seizure by Amman public prosecutor on income tax charges due to the losses incurred and has been closed since 2013, according to Fayez.
The existing company belongs to two persons, one a Jordanian and the other of Arab nationality, who have been declared bankrupt, as the latter is hunted in financial claims in his country and his property was confiscated accordingly there, as he is also wanted in Jordan on judicial rulings and is not currently residing in the Kingdom, he pointed out.
Fayez said all information that refutes the company's claim that it is headquartered in Amman, and proves it is not registered in Jordan and does not operate in its territory, will be sent to the relevant international authorities.
Fayez affirmed that Jordan is fully committed to the decisions banning arms supplies to Libya and provided full answers to all inquiries tabled by the concerned UN Libya Sanctions Committee.
Jordan has answered all the inquiries of the UN Libya Sanctions Committee, he said.
To solve the Libyan conflict, he affirmed the Kingdom's position in support of efforts to reach a political solution to the Libyan crisis through a political dialogue among the Libyan parties, according to the approved references in a manner that preserves the country's unity and fulfills the aspirations of its brotherly people.
