Associate Professor Crawford is Director of SAEFVIC (Surveillance of Adverse Events Following Vaccination in the Community), a vaccine safety and clinical surveillance and immunisation research group based at Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI), Melbourne.

Having completed his medical undergraduate studies at Flinders University Adelaide, A/Prof Crawford has a masters of public health from Cardiff University, Wales and a Vaccinology PhD from The University of Melbourne.

Nigel is a vaccine safety expert and published extensively in the field including clinical and epidemiological studies. The SAEFVIC team is supported by the Victorian DHHS and have been involved in the management of adverse events following immunisation (AEFI) since 2007.
