Qatar- QM announces programmes and activities with precautions
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar residents and visitors, including artists and enthusiasts, will have the opportunity to visit a number of exhibitions and take part in some activities and programmes organised by Qatar Museums (QM).
In an e-mail to its Culture Pass members, QM urged them to participate and propose a permanent public artwork to commemorate the blockade of Qatar for second edition of the 6/5 annual initiative open call.
'Through public art, we invite you to realise a permanent public artwork that will be part of Qatar's ongoing history, unity and reliance, QM said.
QM also invites the public to visit a special exhibition titled ‘A Falcon's Eye: Tribute to Sheikh Saoud' at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) from 9am to 7pm. Tickets must be booked in advance on its website.
Level 4 will close on October 31 but the rest of the show is open until April 2021.
According to QM, the MIA library is also hosting an exhibition of rare books celebrating the Qatar France Year of Culture, taking visitors to a journey through 500 years of French cuisine from the MIA Library Gastronomy Collection.
It explores the work of some of the most influential French chefs of the last five centuries. The exhibition is open during normal library hours.
'We are slowly relaunching our programmes and activities though they will have restricted numbers in the short term to continue to ensure the safety of all our visitors.
Classes in September will include Nastaliq, Kufic and Diwani Calligraphy, Lino printing, Watercolours, Geometry, and much more, MIA said.
Meanwhile, QM noted that the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim (FBQ) Al Thani Museum received an impressive variety of artworks by Qatar's creative community where artists expressed their feelings about the Covid-19 pandemic in a creative and expressive way throughout the past months.
This three-month exhibition is now open for public at FBQ Museum's contemporary art space, The White Majlis.
The first exhibition started on September 4, the second will start on October 9 and the final show will be on November 13. A programme by Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art provides an opportunity for children to explore art through storytelling and explore storytelling through art by reading together, artwork analysis, and taking part in hands-on learning activities.
