9,474 more patients infected with coronavirus in Peru

The health ministry of Peru said on Saturday that the total number of coronavirus cases in the country has reached 639,435 as 9,474 more patients were diagnosed with the disease in the earlier 24 hours.

According to the ministry, the number of deaths rose to 28,607 across Peru, as 136 others died in the earlier day.

Health authorities said that a total of 12,537 patients have been placed in hospitals due to the disease, with 1,524 of them placed in ICUs.

Pilar Mazzetti, Peruvian Health Minister, said that the federal government is working with regional authorities to impose quarantine in areas witnessing a rise in the number of cases.
