Ukraine increases imports of fruits and berries by 23% IAE


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In the first half of 2020, Ukraine imported fruits and berries worth USD 341 million, which is 23% more than in the same period last year, according to the National Scientific Center 'Institute of Agrarian Economy (IAE).

The largest share in imports of fruits and berries in January-June 2020 fell on citrus fruits, bananas and other exotic fruits. In particular, Ukraine imported 182,000 tonnes of citrus fruits worth USD 129 million and 174,000 tonnes of bananas worth USD 96 million.

The main suppliers of fruit to Ukraine in the first half of 2020 were Turkey (19.9% of the total fruit supplies to Ukraine), Ecuador (17.1%), Egypt (10.0%), Costa Rica (6.9%), Spain (5.3%), Greece (4.0%) and Colombia (3.3%).

As Ukrinform reported, in January-June 2020, Ukraine exported fruits and berries worth USD 95 million, which is 18% less than in the same period in 2019.
