(MENAFN- UkrinForm) A new building of the National Children's Specialized Hospital "Okhmatdyt" has six units equipped with the cutting-edge equipment.

"Today is a beautiful, fantastic day for us - the opening of a fantastic building in the fantastic ‘Okhmatdyt' hospital. Six new units have been opened. This will help save lives of Ukrainian children," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said during the opening ceremony of the new building of the National Children's Specialized Hospital "Okhmatdyt" in Kyiv on July 29.

The President assured that the new units were equipped with the cutting-edge medical equipment.

"It was a request from doctors, a request from children, a request from professionals - and we responded to that. The best equipment in the world is here today, he said.

Zelensky added that not all equipment had been delivered to the hospital due to global restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

From now on, Zelensky stressed, Ukrainian children will not have to go abroad for diagnostics as a modern diagnostic center was opened in Okhmatdyt.

The President added that it would be possible now to conduct top-class bone marrow transplant surgeries in Ukraine.

The first part of the new Okhmatdyt building was opened in April 2019. The complex is equipped with modern medical equipment for patients with complicated illnesses.

The entire complex of the renovated Okhmatdyt has several blocks that will house ten modern surgery units, five oncology and hematology units and a diagnostics unit.
