(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, July 29 (Petra) -- A Jordanian factory in the Madaba industrial city will begin producing computers and tablets to be rolled in markets by next December.
The factory, founded by the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global group (TAG.Global), will provide 150 job opportunities to skilled Jordanian workers during the first phase of production. The necessary equipment was imported to the factory, which will kick off with three production lines.
President and founder of the TAG.Global Talal Abu-Ghazaleh told Petra on Wednesday that this factory is the first of its kind in Jordan and the Arab region, underlining that it will be a "qualitative addition to the Jordanian economy."
Following a number of meetings with the Industry, Trade and Supply Ministry, the Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation and the Jordan Investment Commission, the Madaba industrial city was chosen under a directive from His Majesty King Abdullah II to develop the area, Abu-Ghazaleh stated.
The computers and tablets will be produced in Jordan with a Jordanian design, technology and marketing, Abu-Ghazaleh highlighted, saying: "Our policy is to manufacture top-quality products that rise to international standards and at competitive prices. What sets us apart from competitors is that we rely in marketing on our offices located in various parts of the world."
Competitors, he explained, usually place a 50-70 percent profit margin on these devices, and allocate 25 percent for marketing and advertisement, while the TAG.Global will cut costs on advertisement, which will allow consumers to purchase computers and tablets at affordable prices.
Abu-Ghazaleh said that the factory's final products of laptops, tablets, and mobile phones are expected to be on sale by next December, pointing out that the products will be marketed locally, regionally and internationally to benefit from the Kingdom's trade agreements with other countries.
On global demand for electronic devices, a study showed that the electronic and laptop devices market was estimated at more than $101 billion in 2017 with an annual increase of 4 percent, he pointed out.
