Iraq: 2 officers, frontier safeguard murdered in IS attacks


(MENAFN) The Iraqi military stated that two Iraqi policemen and a frontier safeguard were murdered on Tuesday in two assaults by the Islamic State (IS) militants in western Iraq.

The media office of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command (JOC) stated in a report, in one occasion, Brigadier General Ahmed al-Lami, the leader of the Army's 29th Brigade of the 7th Infantry Division, was murdered while pursuing IS fighters in Heet area, some 160 km west of Baghdad.

The JOC stated that Al-Lami led a power in pursuing the IS fighters, who were on the run after a raid on an army barrier that murdered an officer and injured two armed forces in Heet area.
