Qatar Charity inks pact with Qatari embassy, health ministry in Kyrgyzstan

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Charity (QC) has signed a co-operation agreement with Qatar's embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of health in the country to provide 420 oxygen concentrators, aiming to support the country's fight against Covid-19.
The signing of the agreement took place in the presence of Abdullah al-Sulaiti, Qatar's ambassador to Kyrgyzstan; Kalysbek Shadykhanov, state secretary of the Kyrgyz Health Ministry; and Hasan Ali Ovda, director of Qatar Charity's office in the country.
The agreement comes within the framework of its relief efforts aimed at limiting the COVID-19 outbreak in Kyrgyzstan where its office has carried out several relief interventions in the areas of health and food security, QC has said in a statement.
'This assistance comes within the framework of strengthening relations between the two friendly countries, aimed at contributing to the efforts made by the Kyrgyz Republic in fighting the coronavirus, al-Sulaiti said in a press conference after the signing of the agreement.
He added that Qatar, in co-operation with QC, implements many humanitarian and development projects in Kyrgyzstan, which consist of building health centres, schools and homes for the poor, as well as economic empowerment, water and childcare projects.
For his part, the director of Qatar Charity's office in Kyrgyzstan said QC is implementing this project, which is worth more than QR900,000, in
co-operation with the embassy of Qatar and the Ministry of Health in the country.
He said under the current agreement, 420 oxygen concentrators would be provided to help fight the coronavirus, pointing out that the procurement procedures have started and the equipment will be delivered in the current month.
At the end of the signing ceremony, Shadykhanov thanked the Qatari government, people and embassy in Kyrgyzstan, as well as Qatar Charity's office in the country, for supporting the Kyrgyz people in these problematic circumstances.
