Pakistan- Agriculture Park Wana becomes functional
(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) WANA: Business activities have resumed in Agriculture Park Wana in South Waziristan tribal district.
The Agriculture Park spreading over an area of 250 kanals and having 108 shops and 75 godowns was established in April, 2018 by the government of Pakistan with the assistance of civil administration and security forces with an aim to improve the business structure in Wana Bazaar and provide a good atmosphere for customers of different goods and services. The inauguration was performed by Commandant South Waziristan Scouts Muhammad Wasim Altaf, while Additional Deputy Commissioner Faheedullah, District Police Officer Shaukat Ali, Additional AC Wana Ibrahim Shah and other civil and military officials and tribal elders were present on the occasion.
Commandant Wasim Altaf said on the occasion that the opening of Agriculture Park is a good omen for businessmen and customers in the entire area. He said it is unfortunate that these facilities at the park could not be utilised earlier. He hoped that the Agriculture Park will bring prosperity and development in the area.
The commandant appreciated the efforts of the civil and military officials, tribal elders and trade union for shifting the fruit and vegetable markets to Wana Agriculture Park.
The trade union leader Haji Roshan and other tribal elders said they are extremely happy over the opening of Wana Agriculture Park. They hailed the efforts of the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps for establishing peace in the area and helping to promote business activities.
The problem of shifting of fruit and vegetable markets remained unresolved for several years. Several Jirgas were held for solution of the problem. The negotiations eventually brought good results during a Jirga in November 2019 after which the fruit and vegetable markets were shifted to Agriculture Park Wana. The Scouts Force and FC South played important role throughout the shifting of the markets.
The local people have expressed happiness over opening of Wana Agriculture Park. They said fresh fruit and vegetable will be available to them in their area. The Agriculture Park is also considered a boost for trade activities in the area and a source for job creation for the youth.
