Libya's COVID-19 infections jump by 71 to 1,117


(MENAFN) The combined tally of patients who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Libya has amounted to 1,117 as 71 more cases were detected over the past 24-hour period as of Tuesday, the country's National Center for Control announced, adding that the number of patients who have survived their deadly infections reached 269, with 34 others, on the other hand, have died.

According to the most recent data compiled by the center on Tuesday morning, the recent confirmed cases were the only who tested positive for the virus among a total of 476 samples conducted in the previous day.


Libyan officials issued orders to close the country's boundaries, suspend schools and mosques, ban public gatherings, and impose a curfew as part of preventive measures to halt the pandemic of the COVID-19 throughout the nation.

On Monday, the UN-backed government extended nationwide curfew for 10 days in further efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, with some precautionary measures already in place for a time, including ban on public gatherings.
