Mongolia reports two bubonic plague cases

The health ministry of Mongolia said on Wednesday that two bubonic plague suspected cases that were reported in the province of Khovd that is located in the western part of the country have been confirmed by lab tests.
Head of the public relations and surveillance department at the ministry, Dorj Narangerel, said during a press conference that the newly diagnosed patients are a 27 years old citizen and his 17 years old brother and they are currently receiving treatment at two different hospitals in the province.
According to the official, the siblings have consumed marmot meat on Sunday, as he urged the population to avoid eating such meat.
Adding that 146 people who have been in contact with the siblings have been placed in isolation and are currently receiving treatment in local hospitals.
